Are we ready for a world without effort? A sense of purpose in the age of AI and virtual places

The project examines how the perception of effort influences the meaning of life and the acceptance of new technologies – such as artificial intelligence and virtual worlds – in the areas of work, relationships and entertainment. In a series of studies in Poland and South Korea, the team will examine whether the experience or observation of effort – our own or that of others – changes the way we evaluate technologies that can reduce that effort. The results will help us understand how the development of AI and virtual spaces can affect human motivation, well-being and sense of meaning in everyday life.
