Bella Ciało is a psychoeducational project for parents, teachers and all adults who would like to support children and young people in thinking positively about their bodies. We would like to make adults understand that the body and thinking about one's body are very important aspects of the functioning of children and young people. We want to tell all adults that the topic of physicality concerns everyone – from the youngest children to teenagers and adults; boys and men, women and girls

We want to:

  • educate – share the findings of scientific research conducted by us and other researchers; and share the conclusions from our experience gained during clinical work with patients who experience difficulties related to physicality, suffer from eating disorders or obesity

  • emphasise that even children before puberty experience dissatisfaction with their appearance, body shame, compare themselves to their peers in terms of how they look, judge others by the prism of appearance, strive for a socially recognised ideal body shape, would like to be slimmer (girls) or more muscular (boys), and strive to look like people they see on social media

  • support children in building a positive body image by organising workshops in which they can participate together with their parents or other children

  • support parents by creating materials that will help them understand why body issues are so important to young people, what children and young people have to face in today's world in relation to how they look and feel in their bodies, how to support them in building a positive body image, and showing how important a role parents play in shaping their

    body image
