Exodus to virtual worlds: the role of environmental fit and place attachment

PROJECTNCN

8/6/2025

More and more everyday activities are moving to virtual spaces – from games and social media to immersive virtual reality environments. The project focuses on how attachment to place and environmental fit influence the desire to migrate to virtual spaces. We are interested in whether people who feel emotionally attached to their physical environment are less likely to seek escape in virtual reality. On the other hand, we also analyse whether a sense of not fitting in with one's place of residence may encourage virtual migration.
