The presence of pro-social places and the creation of attachment to a place as strategies for improving mental health among native and new residents of Warsaw
PROJECT
5/10/2025
The project examines how the presence of so-called third places – spaces conducive to meetings, integration and building social bonds – affects the mental health of Warsaw residents, both native and newcomers (with experience of migration or refugee status). We are examining whether and how these places strengthen attachment to the place and a sense of belonging, as well as how they can support intercultural integration. The research includes both quantitative analysis on a representative sample of residents and in-depth interviews. The results will be used to develop recommendations and strategies for designing urban spaces that promote mental well-being and social cohesion in multicultural Warsaw.
