Warsaw as a therapeutic place: a strategy for improving the mental health of residents by promoting mindfulness and sensory experiences
PROJECT
8/10/2025
The project examines how urban spaces – such as parks, squares and plazas – can support the mental health of Warsaw residents thanks to their sensory and aesthetic qualities. The aim is to develop strategies that will help to exploit the potential of so-called therapeutic places by introducing solutions that promote mindfulness, such as sensory paths and relaxation zones. The research will include mapping sensory experiences in individual districts, analysing the impact of these places on well-being, and conducting experiments in real spaces. The results will be used to develop recommendations for the design of public spaces that reduce stress, improve well-being, and support social integration.
